Oakland County was able to implement a wellness program that sought to engage a diverse population, with unique job roles, work locations, hours of operation and more. This session will share how Oakland County was able to build awareness, engage employees and measure success of their workplace wellness program.
As a result of this presentation, participants will understand how Oakland County:
1. Presented its case for a wellness program; demonstrating the need for the investment
2. Created a strategic approach for engaging a diverse population of employees, spouses and dependents
3. Understood the win-win wellness concepts for employee health, workplace performance and cost stability
4. Demonstrated the significance of biometric screening and data collection in a wellness program
Nancy Scarlet is the Director of Human Resources for Oakland County. Nancy has over 25 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a broad range of areas including Labor Relations, Employee Benefits, Recruitment and Workforce Planning. Nancy is a certified Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) through the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), a Certified Professional – International Public Management Association (CP-IPMA) and holds a BA in Personnel Administration and MA in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University.
Shortly after assuming the role of Director, Nancy was asked to spearhead the Oakland County Employee Wellness Program, affectionately named “OakFit”. Now, in its 8th year of operation, OakFit has become an important, successful and valued part of Oakland County’s employee culture.
This program is pending approval for 1 (General) recertification credit hour toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HR Certification Institute website at www.hrci.org
