Susan Bailey, Michigan Wellness Council Board Chair Recognized First recipient of the William B. Baun Award
Susan Morgan Bailey is a founding member as well as the current Chair of the Board of Directors of Michigan Wellness Council (MWC). In February of this year, the Association for Worksite Health Promotion (IAWHP) recognized Susan as the first recipient of the William B. Baun Award. This award recognizes professionals who have dedicated their careers to promoting the value of worksite health not only within their respective organizations, but to the practitioner community—“raising the bar” around professional practices and service delivery. This award therefore recognizes the “Master Practitioner.” Susan has dedicated much of her time and energy to fulfilling MWC’s mission. MWC is honored to have her contribute her expertise for improving health through the successful integration of wellness best practices in the workplace.
The William B. Baun award is named for a thought leader and practitioner within worksite health promotion. Throughout his more than three decades, “Bill” has promoted the value of worksite health through his presentations, publications, mentoring, and leadership in organizations such as International Association for Worksite Health Promotion, the National Wellness Institute, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Health Enhancement Research Organization. A practitioner first, Bill before his passing this past November, was Wellness Officer with the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center and was previously Director of employee health promotion at Tenneco Inc. MWC also has had the honor of having Bill present at our meetings.
