Mary Kline

As co-owner of OnSite Wellness (OSW), Mary is responsible for the business aspects and challenges the OSW team to exceed expectations. Her love of life, people, and sports has led Mary into a career path that has provided fun and healthy activities for people of all ages! Mary’s career began in the field of recreation and she has been working in corporate wellness for the past 17 years.

Mary is a graduate of Calvin College with a BA in Physical Education and Recreation, and has a Master of Public Administration from Grand Valley State University. Mary is also a certified Worksite Wellness Program Consultant. She loves to play most sports and is an avid golfer. Her greatest pleasure is her family, most notably her six adorable grandchildren.

Mary Jo LeFevre

Mary Jo LeFevre is a Vice President, Client Executive at Hylant Group. She has over 20 years of group employee benefits experience and attained CEBS degree in 2000. Mary Jo presented at the 2009 MISHRM Conference on ‘Managing Employee Stress in Dire Economic Times’. She was also published in the December 2009 in Corp! Magazine, ‘Wellness Programs 101’.

Bethany Thayer MS, RDN, FAND

Bethany Thayer MS, RDN, FAND is director of the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in Detroit, MI. She oversees a team of health professionals who provide wellness services to the 33,000 plus employees of HFHS, patients, worksites, and community groups that include services such as nutrition services, tobacco treatment, health coaching, sleep management, exercise, wellness screenings, and flu vaccinations.

She is a frequent contributor to the Henry Ford LiveWell blog and on the HAP magazine editorial board. She is a past writer of the weekly “Heart Smart” column in the Detroit Free Press, developing hundreds of recipes that were compiled into the Heart Smart II Cookbook (Detroit Free Press 1996) the Heart Smart Kids Cookbook (Detroit Free Press 2000), and the Heart Smart III Cookbook (Detroit Free Press 2011).

Thayer was a national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for nine years and has been quoted in many national publications including Ladies Home Journal, Shape, Self, Redbook, Family Circle, USA Today, and Cooking Light and is a frequent guest on local Detroit television and radio stations. She also served 3 years as a national leader for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

She is a past-president of the Michigan Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (Mi Academy). She was named the Mi Academy 1993 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year, Received the Mi Academy Media Award in 2004 and 2006, and was recognized in 2012 as the Michigan Outstanding Dietitian of the Year.

Thayer graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics, completed her dietetic internship at Henry Ford Hospital, and earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science from Oakland University. She enjoys swimming and biking and completed a 5K open water swim last August.

Joy Burton

Joy has a genuine interest helping people thrive and aspire to be the best versions of themselves at work, at home, and in our communities. She has demonstrated ability developing integrated strategies that offer innovative, results-based solutions to help her clients improve the total wellbeing of their employees and ultimately become a destination employer. Through this experience, she understands first-hand the value and importance of wellbeing as an organizational solution supporting the employee value proposition.

Professional experience: Joy joined Gallaher Benefit Services, Inc. in September of 2009 as an Account Executive and has over 15 years of industry experience, including complex, large group client management work. In Joy’s current role as Regional Senior Wellbeing & Engagement Consultant she plays an integral part in providing innovation and thought leadership in support of the global practice.

Education, community, and professional Activities: Joy is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelors degree in Physiology. She is a licensed life and health insurance producer and is also active with many wellness organizations. Being a true believer in total wellbeing, she is also an avid health and fitness enthusiast.

Brett R. Powell, BA, CWPC

Brett Powell has been involved in the Wellness field for over a decade. Most of that time has been dedicated to designing and implementing health promotion programs for companies and communities. He presently is a Vice President at the American Institute for Preventive Medicine, a URAC Accredited Wellness company located in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Brett is considered to be one of the nation’s foremost authorities on engaging a multi-generational workforce in wellness programs. Due to his expertise in this topic area, he is a sought-after speaker at national conferences including the National Wellness Conference, the Art & Science of Health Promotion Conference, and WELCOA. He has also written extensively on the subject including an article for the American Journal of Health Promotion.

He was instrumental in the development of a comprehensive wellness program for the largest insurance company in Peru, the first program of its kind in South America.

Brett is a Certified Wellness Program Coordinator. He also has a degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. He enjoys utilizing his background in Psychology to help organizations provide suitable programs that ensure positive behavior change. Brett’s career is motivated by the prospect of affecting one person’s life in a positive manner, let alone the lives of many.

Stephanie Bedricky, MSA

Stephanie Bedricky oversees the Human Resources Benefits and Wellness team at Oakland County. The County’s wellness program has won several awards for wellness programming, including the Best & Brightest™ in Wellness, Michigan’s Healthiest Employers and the Governor’s Fitness Award. Stephanie is passionate about offering programs that enhance well-being and work/life balance of the workforce and their families. In her previous roles, she was a training and development facilitator and has worked in various HR roles.

She has her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from Oakland University and Master’s of Science Administration from Central Michigan University. She is an advisory board member of the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University and serves on the board of directors for the Michigan Wellness Council.

Sarah Szul

Sarah Szul is the Employee Well-Being Program Manager at Consumers Energy. One of Sarah’s responsibilities is overseeing Consumer Energy’s Live Well 365 Program which is available to over 15,000 eligible employees and spouses. The Live Well 365 Program offers a “whole person” approach to well-being by providing resources for physical, emotional, financial, professional, social, and community health.

In past positions as a wellness consultant, Sarah worked with clients around the country helping them develop a customized wellness strategy that would enable them to control rising risk areas while building a healthier, more productive workforce. Several of her clients won awards for their wellness programs, including the Best & Brightest™ in Wellness and the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America.

Sarah Szul attended Miami University of Ohio, graduating with a Bachelors’ Degree in Exercise Physiology. While earning her Masters’ Degree from the University of Toledo, she realized her passion for educating and helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle. Sarah is a Certified Intrinsic Coach® and a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant.

Heidi Devereux

Heidi Devereux has over 25 years of experience in the field of health education.  Her career began in Public Health where she worked in several local health departments.  Her focused areas were teen pregnancy, obesity, and especially tobacco prevention and cessation. She enforced the Ingham County and FDA tobacco regulations, by recruiting and training minors to conduct under cover compliance checks. She has also provided individual counseling to patients for smoking cessation. In 2002, she shifted her focus to corporate wellness and became the Director of the Executive Physical Program at The Wellness Center.  Most recently she has worked in the wellness divisions of statewide health plans and is currently a Product Specialist with Priority Health. 

Heidi has a degree in Public Health Education and Promotion from Central Michigan University, and has received her Holistic Stress Management Instructor certification from Paramount Wellness Institute.

Jennifer Smith

Jennifer Smith is the Talent Acquisition & Retention Manager at Consumers Credit Union. Jennifer provides leadership for a comprehensive set of internal HR functions including employment branding, employee relations, and her passion is centered around helping Consumers win with top talent.

She holds a Bachelor’s in Management & Marketing from Western Michigan University and has more than 10 years of experience in the industry. In addition to serving on the Michigan Wellness Council, Jennifer currently serves on the Kalamazoo Human Resource Management Association (KHRMA) Board as Vice President and is a board member of the Region 8 Veteran Community Action Team (VCAT) Leadership Committee. Lindsey DesArmo

Lindsey DesArmo has been responsible for engaging in and encouraging positive change as a profession since 2006. As Wellness and HR Communications Manager at Grand Valley State University, Lindsey develops, implements, manages, and evaluates the wellness strategic plan, programs, and health campaigns for faculty and staff and HR Communications functions.

Lindsey is committed to fostering an environment of inclusion, growth, and well-being for students, faculty, and staff at the university as well as the surrounding communities and state in which they live. In her role at GVSU, Lindsey is a liaison to national, state, and community organizations, agencies, and businesses including the Michigan Wellness Council, West Michigan Corporate Wellness Coalition, and Partnership for a Healthier America. Lindsey holds a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University in psychology, Master’s degree from GVSU in Public Administration, and is a certified Personal Trainer, Wellness Coach, and Group Fitness Instructor.

Alicia Wilson

Alicia Wilson is involved in several successful businesses and programs. She is the Senior Vice President, Best and Brightest Programs. She has 15 years of leadership experience managing, budgeting, and contract negotiations with an emphasis on increasing profitability. Previous experiences include government constituent work and nonprofit direction with an emphasis on philanthropy.

Beth Zaletel

Beth Zaletel is the Engagement Director for the Midwest Market at Cigna. She leads a team of Engagement Consultants who focus on developing and executing customized engagement strategies that encompass well-being and product utilization for Cigna clients. As a subject matter expert, Beth focuses on problem-solving to determine prevalent risk factors to control medical costs, methods for measuring program effectiveness, incentive design, delivering best practices to optimize health improvement, customer experience, and service results for the region.

Prior to joining Cigna, Beth spent 15 years of health and wellness experience focusing her efforts as an Onsite Health Consultant delivering engagement leadership of multiple integrated Health Systems.

Beth holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Winona State University. Beth is a member of the Performance Leadership Academy – The Advisory Board, Washington D.C. She is also a Certified Wellness Program Coordinator from the Chapman Institute and a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor from the National Council for Behavioral Health.
